This is Dugan.
I was called as a second hold for this little boy by Castaic Shelter just
before he was to be put down. His picture was simply matted hair held
up for the camera. The shelter claimed he was sixteen years old (don't
think so) and he has one eye. Through fate or a r-e-a-l stroke of luck I
found someone to pull and foster for a month before I could have him
flown to Atlanta. I would love to name the fosters to give them the
credit they are due but I'm not sure that's allowed. They are my
Camarillo Angels. I have no idea how I ended up on the CA shelter's
website nor do I know how we got along without our sweet little Dugan. |

We just wanted to thank you so much for putting us together with Molly, the
adorable Australian Shepherd/Collie Mix from the Carson Shelter who was
featured on your website as a pet of the week 10/13. My husband and I had
been looking for the right dog for weeks and the minute we saw Molly's
picture we had a good feeling. We drove all the way out to Carson and
instantly fell in love with her sweet personality and gorgeous brown eyes.
We are thrilled and will recommend your site to anyone we know looking to
find a pet! Laurie and Andrew |

Just wanted to drop a note to thank AMRT and the wonderful folks at the
Camarillo Shelter for helping me find a wonderful dog named Valor. I found
Valor's cutie picture at the Camarillo Shelter via AMRT. I also would like to
mention that the staff at the Camarillo Shelter is by far the friendliest
group of shelter employees I have met. I adopted Valor last month and we are tremendously enjoying him in our home.
He is losing his excess weight and I will send a picture of him to AMRT once
our goal is reached.
Thanks again AMRT and the wonderful folks at the Camarillo Shelter.......God
bless you and keep up the good work that you do.

Taryn,
FYI brought the gal down to the Carson shelter and she adopted the little
Chihuahua, named Poppy. I made an appointment for him to get his little eye fixed and be
neutered tomorrow. He has already had a bath and is home with his new family. The gal who adopted him said
she probably would not have ever looked at him on her own or gone to a pound. Thank
you and Evelyn for your input. I'm so glad all the pieces fit together. Thank you both for your effort for the animals. Its a
great help to me to see pictures on the computer . I have a dog care business and do some rescue and often have
clients or friends who call me when they are ready for a dog in their life. I talk with them and try to
find a dog that would be a good match.. so this input truly helps. Anyway, thank you and please pass on the good news to Evelyn...Keep up
the great work. Meryl

Sharon came to us looking for the shelters closest to
her so that she could adopt a pet. Thanks to the information from everyone
at AMRT, and the wonderful people at the shelters, she was able to find
the perfect animal for her.
I recently adopted a 2 month old male kitten from the Agoura shelter and he's a real doll. I picked him up this past Tuesday, October 9. Thanks! Oh, and I named him Harley because his purr is so loud and his markings are that of a classic Harley Davison, black and white (white for the chrome). Thanks again!

I just wanted to let you know what happened to the wonderful lab mix I
adopted as a result of your site.
Lulu has been with us for over six months and has become a very outgoing and loyal addition to our family.
I have attached her "before" picture that I responded to on your web site as well as an "after" shot once she came home. As you can see, she is all
smiles! I am happy to report that she is healthy and happy. And most of all, we couldn't be more overjoyed to have Lulu to love!
Thank you!
Lulu's happy owner Anna.

On Friday August 5th I went down North East Animal shelter
to see a Yorkshire terrier that was in your web page for adoption.
According to his info he was 12years old. I didn't care about his age.
When I saw him, I felt in love with him & I decided it to give him a
home forever, no matter for how much longer, but he was going to have a
happy ending. First they told me that he wasn't going to be able to get
his vaccinations, because he was too old and he wasn't going to be able
to resist, then they told me that he wasn't going to be able to get
neuter because of the age also, but I kept telling them that I didn't
care. So I filled all the paper work paid the fees, and the suddenly
the vet at the shelter said that he was going to get his shots,
microchip and neuter too, because he was totally healthy, I got really
happy. They explained me that I could pick him up on Monday (tomorrow)
from the vet's office. All Friday night I pray to God to help him to go
through it just fine. Yesterday when I called to see how he was doing
and to talk to the vet to see if he was going to do surgery on him
because I was really worry about his age, the vet told me that he was
going to do it, and he told me "don't worry about his age, he is a
healthy five years old Yorkie and he is going to make it just fine". I
couldn't believe what he said, I double check with the vet and he said
that he was a five year old Yorkie and that the shelter did a mistake on
it. I remember that when I went to see him, they had him in the
observation room, because of his age & I think they thought that nobody
wouldn't adopt him, but I proved them wrong & I never cared about his
age, but of course now I know that we are going to have more years to
enjoy our selves, with my husband, my other dog & two cats.
With hope & love in our hearts we can help other animals in
need.
Thanks AMRT for all those pictures that you post because
thanks to that I found my other little baby.
You really make a difference!
Sincerely,
Marilyn (=^-^=) |

AMRT Staff-
I am pleased to tell you that I adopted a adorable puppy a week ago that I
found through your page and through diligent searching at South Orange
County Shelters. His name is Bailey and he is a 3 month old Chihuahua Mix.
He is still adjusting to his new home but I love him and he fits right in.
Thank you for your help and your web site. You are making a difference in
pet's lives. Here is a picture of Bailey... isn't he cute.

Hi,
While I was filling in for the regular Harbor Shelter AMRT.NET scout
(Christine had gone on vacation) I saw a Rottweiler in the recovery room
who had been burned by acid down one side of his head. Even though he had
been badly abused he was a very sweet and friendly dog and soon became a
favorite of the staff. I put a rescue hold on him but he was released two
weeks before he was suppose to be and we didn't have the room to take him.
I sent out a plea for help on the Rottie-Rescue site and within hours was
contacted by someone who was willing to adopt him. Wendy and Eric came up
from Orange County to meet him and adopted him the next day. Here is a
picture of "Ike" being adopted by his new family. I have also
included a photo of the burns on his head, his new mom says they look much
better and he's gained 10 lbs! Although his photo never made it to the
website, I only found him because I was there to take photos for AMRT.NET,
so he definitely qualifies as a Happy Ending!

Dear Staff at AMRT.Net,
My wife and I would like to thank you for your help in finding the puppy we
adopted at the Downey shelter. Your website was quite a help by saving us
a lot of travel time: but more importantly was wonderful as research to find
where the local shelters are. We visited three shelters (Downey, Baldwin
Hills, and South LA) mostly because of your updated and recent postings of
dogs at those shelters. I will keep recommending your web site to anyone
interested in a new dog or cat.
Thank You,
Damien and Lori Hernandez

I wanted to let you that I rescued a cute
terrier/shepherd mix puppy (#A421993)
today from the South LA shelter. She was posted on
your website. I will foster her until I can find her
a suitable home (I already have two dogs and a
toddler).
Thanks! And keep up the good work!
Sincerely,

When I was looking for a dog, one of your supporters at the Long Beach SPCA facility suggested I look at your website, which I had never heard of. I am so glad I did. Do not ever think that the hard work you are doing goes unnoticed.
What wonderful a thing you are doing by taking and posting pictures of these pets so that people like me can see them and get them.
I am adopting a dog from the Carson shelter tomorrow, and I would never have seen him without your efforts.
Thank you again.

| Hi Happy Endings,
Don't think that all your efforts are going unnoticed or even worse,
unused. I live in Mammoth Lacks and
am an independent rescuer. Recently I have directed a few friends to
your web site. It is a perfect place
for those of us who are so isolated. Three cats and six dogs is my most
recent count from AMRT. And
that was just June and July!
Keep it up, I'm watching,
J |
| I found Rowdy. I am so happy, and he loves my cat
Scooter. Thy are great pals.
Keep up the good work,

Hello,
I just so happened to have seen your website about three months ago while I
was searching for a perfect pet. I have adopted a wonderful puppy that I
have seen on your website from the Carson Shelter. His name is Kody and he
was part of a litter. I am so happy with my little addition to my small
family. Kody was about 8 weeks and about 8 pounds when I got him. He is so
vibrant and happy and is now a healthy 4 month old, 18 pound Shep/Lab mix!
I am now in the process of searching for a playmate for him through your
website. Thank you for your kindness and much needed attention to sheltered
pets!!!
Sincerely,
Syreeta Bilal

I wanted to let all the volunteers at AMRT know what a wonderful thing they are doing--not only for the dogs that seem so grateful but for the people who are able to find them. I had been looking for a dog for a couple months. I found AMRT through a link at the pugdogrescue.com website. A UCLA student, I did not have the means to travel to the many shelters throughout Southern California on a
regular basis. I was found many dogs I would have loved to adopt--even a pug all the way in the Riverside shelter, but after calling in, all of them had already been adopted. After looking at AMRT, and visiting four or five shelters, I stumbled on an 8 month female rat terrier at the East Valley shelter that really intrigued me. I had gone to East Valley in particular because AMRT showed a lot of
Chihuahuas and smaller dogs there. She had not been on the web site when I first saw her and not yet available. I hadn't even been thinking of this kind of dog or knew about the breed. I went back on the internet to research about rat terriers. She was perfect. When she became available, I played with her outside of her cage and she was just so sweet, curious and friendly. Her description on AMRT of her being full of energy is gradually revealing itself. She came home with a slight case of kennel cough (nothing care and low cost antibiotics couldn't fix) and a few ticks (nothing spray and tweezers didn't remove, and she was just so sweet while she let me take them off, licking my hand trying to get me to stop but still letting me to do so) but those things are a small price to pay for her love and companionship, and to see her happy. If AMRT had not led me to East Valley shelter in the first place to look at the other dogs, encouraged me to be a responsible dog adopter, and be open to all the many dogs that need and give so much love and care, I would not have found Tug. Attached is the picture from AMRT that encouraged me to
rescue her. I'll try to send another picture of her happy in her new home. Thank you. -Michele Gutierrez

My best pal, Lulu, was pet of the week on AMRT the week of
September 13, 2000. My friend, Alexandria Sage (an animal rescuer) brought
Lulu's photo to me and I was instantly in love. So, the two of us rushed to
the shelter to spring my new companion the very next morning. Lulu was at
the shelter and scheduled to be euthanized the day I adopted her. She was
underweight and had a terrible case of mange, but what a sweet, wonderful
girl she has turned out to be. She's a happy healthy dog now and I couldn't
be any happier with her! I've been meaning to send along her photo and a
big thank you for many, many months. So here is Lulu - the Akita Husky mix
from South Central that you featured on your site nearly a year ago, with
her new companion, Mr. Fuzzy, relaxing at home. Thank you very much for
your great site! Karen |

Thank you! You have a great site. I've been
checking out the Camarillo shelter for awhile. Today, my daughter and I
went and found the perfect dog. His picture was (is) on your web
site. I was surprised that he was still available - and now he's
ours! |

I wanted you to know that our family adopted one of the dogs we saw on
your site. He is the German Shepherd at the West Valley Animal Shelter
that you had listed as "Calm, affectionate, great dog!!".
We visited him today and he was just as your site said, very calm and
loving, and great with our two year old. My wife even brought some
treats to see how he took food (very well!), and he knew to sit on
command. I'm sure he will make a great addition to our family. Thank you
for the wonderful service you provide! |

I just wanted you to know that we adopted this beautiful SWEET girl on
Friday, August 10th. We had been looking for weeks for just the right match,
through rescues and at all the shelters on the internet. Your site is
great! I even referred So Cal Aussie Rescue to your site when I found the
Lancaster Mom and 4 pups. They put her on their site immediately and when I
called the Lancaster shelter a few days later they said ALL had been adopted.
That felt so good in a sad, sad world for these poor animals. I wish I
could help them all...
I also wanted you to know that the volunteers Cassie (dog runner) and
Kathleen (groomer) were great. When we first arrived at the shelter they
were grooming "Sunny" for going to Petco on Saturday. She was so matted and
dirty they had to shave her back- it was love at first sight and Sunny let me
groom her! I then took her outside for a walk and discovered she would sit,
stay, come and heel to the left! All this in addition to being such a sweet,
gentle girl. We also appreciated the shelter workers' efforts to let us take
her that very day, even though there was a question about her being spayed
(which she was).
We brought her to her new home in Northern California and she was very shy at
first, but is settling in nicely and has been good as gold from the start, no
barking, fence jumping, digging or crying at night. She has a big beautiful
fenced backyard (with dog door to our kitchen) and a soft fluffy bed here.
She is the only pet and spends at least 8 hrs a day with us. I am looking
forward to a long and happy life with her and just wanted you to know she has
found her forever home thanks to your group and other dedicated loving
people! Keep up the good work!
