AMRT.NET  is dedicated to facilitating adoption of shelter and rescue pets in the Southern California area.  We believe there are a lot of pets euthanized in shelters while there are potential pet owners looking to adopt and cannot find them.   The goal of the creators of this web site is to assist potential pet owners in finding a shelter or rescued pet.

On Sunday, June 4, Marsha Perloff, shelter scout for North Central, sent an email to the list regarding the 3 m.o. "Pointer X" Impound #30886 requesting that we take a look at her photo and see if anyone knew what she might be. I went over to her photo, took a look, and couldn't believe what I thought I was looking at: A lemon (color) Dalmatian puppy!

I emailed her photograph to a Dalmatian breeder friend in Minnesota and my local Dalmatian rescue friend Debi Crowe-Gomez (of Antelope Valley Dalmatian Rescue) and they both thought she looked like she could be a lemon. I emailed Marsha and asked her if she could meet me over at North Central on Tuesday so that I could look at her in person, evaluate her, and take her out (since she wasn't available until Friday, normally I wouldn't be able to take her out).

On Tuesday, my (Chow Dog Rescue) friend Tracy Mynhier and I went over to North Central to check her out. Well, as soon as I saw her in person, I KNEW she was a Dalmatian. Marsha had arranged ahead of time for us to take her out, so the ACT pulled her out of a run full of puppies and we went outside to the lovely lawn area they have over there. Photographer Tracy and the rest of us tried like crazy to get her cute lemon self, delighted to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine, to stop racing around long enough to take a picture of her for my Dalmatian Rescue lists and finally succeeded.

Debi Crowe-Gomez, by the time I got home from the shelter, had not only said she'd be able to foster her, she'd tentatively found her a home.  The lemon girl, who I named Butterscotch because of her yummy, caramel-colored spots, would be going to a home where Debi had placed a male lemon Dalmatian about a year ago.

While waiting to go to her new home, Butterscotch made herself at home in Debi's house (picture) and played with her Dalmatian Mix foster sister Patsy, at one point getting her attention by yelling in her ear!!! LOL!!

Another happy ending, thanks to AnimalMatch.
